How I can get an even coat of finish on my guitar?

I finished my first Fender Stratocaster USA. I will make a gold ingot The Gibson Les Paul Goldtop. My question is, how I can be sure that it is a uniform layer around the guitar and not in places blochy? It seems that you could easily make the guitar finish uneven. Any advice or tips on how to do the same everywhere?

The lacquer is used to finish the guitar. The end is then sanded after it is completely dry, for the same brightness. It is a delicate process, and I suggest you work on a piece of wood similar to the first practice until do things.
