Is there gold in tennessee?

Hey i found some gold flakes in the creek by my house or what looks like gold. Is there gold in creeks and if so where do i need to look? I have lots of equipment i just bought and know how to use it i got a sluice box and a pan and a vacuum thing if there is gold in tennessee is there gold in middle tennessee and all creeks?

Sounds like you found pyrite or mica flakes. It could be gold, but gold usually settles into the bottom and in crevices and around or downstream of stumps, rocks, logs etc. Take your samples somewhere to get them tested. A simple acid test bottle should cost about $10.00, and you just clean the sample of dirt and place a drop on the test material. If it foams and turns green with bad vapor, its not gold. If nothing happens or it turns brownish slowly, its gold. Rinse under water throughly and keep it off your hands or they will turn yellow and the skin will peel eventually.

Yeah, there is gold there, but not much compared to other loactions.
