Why is my brand new, £600 LCD TV rubbish with Sky? Help!?
Ok… I just bought a Samsung 32″ LE32R74BDX LCD TV – I researched the product and many people seem to think that this TV is the best 32″ LCD on the market at present – certinainly at its price point.
However, I plugged it in this morning, and I plugged in the Sky, with a shiny new gold Scart cable….. and the picture is a massive disppointment. It simply can’t keep up with any movement and is grainy, goes blurry whenever anybody moves.
Live Sports is a washout – there’s too much graininess and even ZX Spectrum-style colour clash!
Can anyone advise? I haven’t tried the built-in freeview receiver yet as I don’t have a regular aerial cable.
Have I bought the wrong Sky box? Did I need an HD one?
Very disappointed and the set will be going back on Monday, unless someone can tell me that I’m doing something wrong!
You should probably be using better connections that scart.. try component or RGB cables for better clarity… assuming your sky box has these connections
One thing to try. Go into the picture controls, find the adjustment for Sharpness. Turn it down. Then turn it down some more until it is off.
At first the picture will look soft. Give it some time. Chances are in a couple of hours you’ll realise that the picture looks a lot more natural and that having the sharpness on merely over-accentuates edges.
