The prospect of a recession looms heavily every day, should this occur, how will people lives be affected?

I’m talking about real people here, not shareholders or investors lives. How will the average Jo be affected here?

Recession is just a label. We are already in a period of high inflation, but the govt is doing its best to downplay the poor performance of the economy– going so far as to take out the cost of food and fuel from the inflation indicators. And what has risen most in cost in the past year? Food and fuel. A recession is not necessarily bad, if the economy has been rising too fast and causing inflation of prices. But an overall weak economy like the US is experiencing will result in hardships for the poor, most of all. Most people will be unaffected by a recession, but increases in prices impact those who have no discretionary income.
