Polished Garnets
India and Idaho are the only two places in the world that star garnets are found. They range in size from a grain of sand to golf ball size. Star garnets show a reflection of light rays with a star of four or six, which is caused by inclusion of rutile in the gemstone. Idaho is the only known place where six garnets are ray stars.

How is performed

Raw Garnets
Garnets are found in almost opaque emerald stream and will be a dark red or purple in color. Good quality large gemstones are rare and almost half of the precious stones found not to be of a quality suitable for cutting or polishing. Many of the stones show a star of four rays, but the star of six rays is very rare. A good quality star garnet can cost up to $ 100 per carat.
The name garnet is believed to come from the grenade. Many ancient pieces of jewelry and have clusters of red stones that do look a lot like a group of pomegranate seeds. Travelers often carried garnets to protect them from accidents. Legends suggest that garnets illuminate the night and will protect owners from nightmares. Noah has also been rumored to have used a garnet lantern to navigate the Ark of the night.
